Check my “About Me” right meow…you may notice a slight change.
That’s right people. The new kitten that Leah mentioned in her hilarious post about our friendship wasn’t hypothetical. Just in time for Halloween, I’d like to introduce Willow's new little brother, Mr. Peek-a-Boo (Peek for short!).
I have been toying with the idea of getting a second cat for a while now. In January, I lost my 17-year old cat, and without her lifelong snuggle buddy, Willow seemed to miss him just as much as I do. Now that I am finally settled into my apartment and grad school, it seemed like the right time. I met with Peek’s foster mom to make sure he was a good fit, and the moment he snuggled up to my chest and started purring like a motor boat, I knew I wanted to be his forever home.
As for Willow, she isn’t quite sure what to do with this little guy yet. He is five months old and has A LOT of energy, but they are slowly warming up to each other and learning that there’s plenty of love (and bed!) to go around.
If you are considering a pet – dog or cat – I highly suggest checking out local rescues and shelters. Because he was in foster care for a few months, I knew Peek’s temperament and health status before I adopted…plus he was already neutered and litter trained! Rescues strive to ensure that you get a pet that works with your home and lifestyle, while saving animals that wouldn’t have had a chance otherwise. Peek was living on the streets as a baby with his brother when HSAC found him and took him in. I am so thankful for the volunteers who devote their time and energies to helping animals like Peek find safe, loving homes.
So from my little orange kitten to you, Happy (almost) Halloween!!!
