Tour Through Blogland Questions:
Leah: We’ve got a few projects in the works for Life, Love, and Coffee Stains! Right now we’re working on a twitter chat with Coffee & Cardigans, keeping up with the blog, and even some products in the hopefully near future! I personally am working on a Gift Shop overhaul at Terrapin Beer Co (my 9-5ish) and merchandising for Chloe + Isabel jewelry. I’ve got some awesome blogger collaborations coming up with that, so I’m sure you’ll hear a lot more about it!
Chelsea: Really quick philosophical question...can one "work on" fall? Because if so, that's exactly what we are doing. In addition to our collab with Coffee & Cardigans, Leah and I are throwing ourselves into this season head first. Tailgates, scarves, boots, Halloween, and the ever famous PSL...let's just say the cool air has us thinking creatively!
2) How does your work differ from others in it’s genre?
Chelsea: When it comes to lifestyle blogging, I think there are a million directions that you can go. What makes Leah and I stand out is our ability to spin a funny personal anecdote or milestone and turn it into a post that hundreds of girls can relate to and gain something from. We aren't just going to show you a cute new outfit we got...we are going to tell you how you can afford it, how to make it versatile, and where to go on your next date so that you can show it off.
Leah: I think having two girls, in two different cities, doing two different things is what makes us different! Also, I think we’re a little less “Cosmo” and a little more “Real Simple” than a lot of other 20-something lifestyle blogs. And I think we’re both pretty happy with that.
3) Why do you write/create what you do?
Leah: I love writing! And I love PR, Advertising, and Social Media. This blog is a chance for me to do all of those things. I think writing is a great creative outlet for me when craft projects aren’t always an option. When I am crafting, it's usually functional but fun and colorful!
Chelsea: I absolutely love to write, but as a graduate student, a lot of the writing I do has to follow a very specific style guideline and topic. LL+CS gives me a creative space to run to when I've had enough of Oscar Wilde's political theories. On a more collectively personal level, this project was a way for two college friends to stay connected post graduation. Leah and I lived together for two years and have been friends for even longer. Now that we are living four hours apart, the blog is something that we can still collaborate on daily.
4) How does your writing/creative process work?
Chelsea: Can I get back to you in a couple of weeks? :) One of the things I am working on for the month of September is finding a solid work life balance between school and my social life. Grad school is a whole new ball game in terms of time commitment, so right now my process sounds something like this: "15 Minutes between class and work? Can I squeeze a blog post out of that?!" It is definitely a goal for me to be able to schedule in some "me time" and get back to writing organically like I was over the summer. Updates to follow!
Leah: I usually get really inspired and write like a mad-woman. I love writing a few posts at a time, and then going back and editing them for a few days before they’re ready to publish! When I’m lacking on creativity but have posts to write, you’ll find me scrolling through Pinterest to look for inspiration. I kid you not, I decided to write my post about fall must have accessories after looking at pictures of puppies. I’m also a bit of a “look right before you leap but not much before that” kind of person when it comes to crafts… which doesn’t always end well. But I always come out with a good story!
Now its our turn to nominate three blogs/bloggers that we want to continue the tour through blogland! You're up: That Working Girl, Coffee & Cardigans, and Dearest Darling!!
