Insta 1: Obligatory Selfies
What you didn't see: EJ decided to take a “shortcut” through the Blue Ridge Mountains (read: backroads, not highway!) and Chelsea ate a lot of Sour Patch Kids. In the meantime, Leah was down in Athens trying to collect beer, the boys, and the bags and get on the road! We finally all made it to the rental house around 8:30.
Insta 2: Chelsea Dying on the Floor
What you didn't see: There were Alice in Wonderland costumes and grand plans to go out, but (like usual), they ended up falling through for a game of Cards Against Humanity and hiding from the cold front. After a particularly funny moment during the game (check Twitter for the actual quotation!), Chelsea ended up rolling on the floor and a slightly tipsy Leah decided to snap some pictures. Thanks for that, Leah.
Insta 3: Rogue Washer
What you didn't see: Coach EJ! EJ is assistant coaching for the team now and in the absence of the Head Coach, was large and in charge this weekend. He did a great job making sure everyone and everything got to the hotel and venue safely, especially considering some pretty large hang ups that were to come!
Insta(s) 4: See Through Bridge + Coffee Sign!
What you didn't see: A windy river, disappointed rowers, and a lot of walking around in the cold. For the first time in 34 years, The Head of the Hooch cancelled events and refused to send boats down the race course. This meant some vendor shopping and venue exploring while the team waited patiently for a revised schedule, and finally a total cancellation. While the team packed up and EJ got everyone on the road, we headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings for some snacks.
Insta 5: Boathouse Gang
Insta 6: Good Friends + Good Times
What you didn't see: The Wake Forest Alum gang walking through Chattanooga ALL MATCHING. Since it was so cold and windy, we were all rocking out Boathouse jackets and carrying around coffee cups. This meant that people kept stopping and asking if we were racing (despite Leah and I wearing leather boots?). We wish, random guy on the bridge. We wish.
What you didn't see: When we got back from the race course, everyone took a quick nap and then Leah and I ran out for snacks and wine. Apparently they don’t sell wine in grocery store in TN?! Who knew? After we finally made it back an hour later, we played some more Cards Against Humanity and took a trip to a local brewery for dinner. Sunday morning was a flurry of packing and getting on the road. Leah had a very important place to be on Sunday afternoon…but more on that later ;)
