When we lived together in undergrad, Leah and Chris used to make fun of EJ and I because we only ever fought over one thing, and one thing alone - "What do you want to do for dinner?" This simple question would send us spiraling into a 30 minute debate filled with a lot of "Anything but the dining hall" and "I don't know; You pick."
We were such a struggle.
So after he graduated in 2013 and realized that the world doesn't have meal plans, EJ and I made a deal - I plan and cook, he grocery shops and cleans up (Best. Deal. Ever.). This means that each Sunday, I sit down with Pinterest, Yummly, and AllRecipes and plan 5 to 6 meals for the week (everyone needs a little wiggle room for eating out). As the picky eater in our relationship, that means that I get to plan meals I will definitely eat and he gets a home cooked meal almost every night. Win-Win.
When it all started, my shopping lists consisted of computer paper and a bunch of colored pens. Since then, I've gotten a lot fancier and made a meal planner...which I have shared with y'all below as a free printable (download below the image)!!! It has room for the ingredients for each meal, things that are on sale (I live by my Harris Teeter app), and various miscellaneous things, like toothpaste or olive oil. And of course, it's a whole lot prettier than my blank, white computer paper!
Happy planning...and if you come up with any good recipes, send them our way!
