I know our Midweek Mocha Break traditionally involves what we've been reading, thinking about, or working on...but honestly, my brain is in full summer break mode this week and not a lot of actual reading or work has been done. Oops! EJ and I are headed to the beach this weekend to see my sister for my birthday and I am so so excited!
I don't know if it's the heat, my already beach bound brain, or Blake Shelton's new video, but the other night I was cutting up a watermelon after grocery shopping and I thought to myself...ya know what would go really well with this? A big glass of sangria.
Maybe you saw the Instagram, but EJ and I just made a big kid purchase and bought our own grill...which is the perfect excuse to pop open a beer or pour a glass of wine before dinner and hang out on the deck. After my watermelon
"aha!" moment, I started experimenting. It's pretty hard to go wrong with sangria, but I think my "pull whatever I have out of the refrigerator and the liquor cabinet" version came out pretty darn well. So naturally, I had to share :)
Recipe for an individual sized glass...for a pitcher, multiply by 5
3-4 Cubes Watermelon
Handful of Blueberries (Cut in Half)
1 oz Peach Vodka
Add ice, and fill with a light, fruity white wine.
Steer away from anything too heavy that will take away from the refreshing flavor, like a Chardonnay or Moscato. I used a Reisling from a local NC winery, but really any of your favorite whites would do!
