Which is how I kept ending up at Starbucks.
See, hot coffee? Not my thing. I’ll drink iced coffee all day long, but if it is hot, it’s gotta be a latte. Of course, this habit was totally fine when I was able to use my meal plan at the on-campus Starbucks. That’s not even real money (or at least, that’s what I told myself). But then, this big, scary, confusing thing happened in my life…I graduated. All of a sudden, a macchiato is $5 and my bank account was looking a little worse for wear.
And that, my friends, is how I became my own barista. Sounds so empowering, doesn't it? I received my first espresso machine as a gift, but at first, this strange contraption terrified me. Steaming milk is hard. Thank your local barista. Seriously.
Below are a few machines that you can find in common stores or online. Happy brewing!
This is the machine I have. It is really user friendly and the instructions are super clear! It is a middle of the road price point, so you are going to get quality drinks without breaking the bank! Find it here: http://amzn.to/1mjCQkp
This machine can be found at Target and is really inexpensive! It has great reviews and if you are just starting out, would be a perfect machine to learn on. Find it here: http://tgt.biz/1qZo8C8
Still afraid of doing it yourself? This one is a bit more expensive, but it does all of the work for you (complete with automatic milk frother!). Plus it comes in pretty colors! Find it here: http://bit.ly/1rbkXF9
