Whether you’re moving into your first, second, or fifth apartment, it’s fair to say the most fun you’ll have during the transition is decorating your new space. And while you may be stuck with white walls and interesting carpet, there’s plenty of ways to add color to your apartment. I've compiled a list of my favorite ways to add color to an apartment without breaking the rules (or the bank).
1. Mirrors - Adding a mirror to your living room not only helps to create an illusion of more space (great for a cramped apartment), it also gives you a chance to add color to your walls. Choosing a mirror with a decorative frame or border gives you the chance to play with color pallets, shapes and light.
2. Art Prints - Just because you can't afford a Picasso doesn't mean that you shouldn't cover your walls in art! From patterns to quotes to landscapes, prints are a cheaper way to own art. Etsy is a great place to find cheap prints that can add color to walls and mantles. Or, if you’re feeling crafty, you can make your own!
4. Throw Pillows – One of my favorites, throw pillows brighten up brown or black furniture perfectly. They’re a great way to pull two different pieces together. For example, a yellow and orange throw pillow brings together an orange rug and yellow mirror nicely. Plus, they’re easy to change out depending on your decor, mood, or even the season! I love buying pillows that can easily be re-covered, so that when I'm ready for a change, all I have to do is switch out the covers. (It also makes cleaning a breeze!)
